Egr issues
Hi my MY08 has got a problem with the egr valve resulting in sluggish performance and light on etc.
I have had the code read and switched off but as soon as restart its back on.. I'm planning on getting her mapped anyway so will be blanking the egrs off. my question is who on the forum sells the blanking kit and is there a decent guide anywhere as will be attempting the work myself, as was quoted £150 for the job.
Kind regards
Steve

On your engine you need the EGR emulators to turn off that light but I understand the blanking procedure is the same regardless of engine variant.
On the earlier engine there is no warning light but on the MY07 onwards ( I think ), there is. You can do the blanking yourself for a few pence, literally but turning out that light to prevent an MOT failure is more expensive.

Hi that is very kind of you to offer and I may well be in touch to arrange that offer of help. I have seen the advanced factor kit but doesn't cover my vin range. will check the bay.
The reason it doesn't cover the your VIN is due to the extra software requirements (so that kit alone wouldn't be suitable) but it should still be fine for the physical blanking. No, I'm pretty sure it won't cause any damage as such, but I wouldn't advise leaving it for long. The light may not even come on for a long time, or at all! Yesterday We went for a drive and it felt sluggish pulling away ( no light on )
today light on and feels the same as yesterday. so think it been an issue for a while with no light on etc.
Ahh, yes. I was thinking about the light coming one once blanked but in this case it's already on, of course. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

EGR / HDC Fault.
Hi there, I had a fault on my Disco3 "Engine System Fault", I got it diagnosed and it come out as a cracked intercooler pipe.
I replaced that and the fault returned, I then stripped down the EGR pipes and they were covered in exhaust fumes...! I cleaned them all off and bought a blanking kit. Fitted the blanking kit and that fault has disappeared......... HOWEVER...!
I am now randomly getting "HDC Fault, Special programs switched off, vehicle lowering" coming up randomly...?
The performance of the car is fine until this fault appears then it goes into "FAULT" mode...?
I stop, put the car into neutral, switch off, switch back on and the car is fine...? It then happens again and again...?
Can anyone help please...?
