Towing Eletrics

I recently bought a second-hand set of genuine LR towing electrics for the D3. When fitting it this afternoon it became clear that the harness that connects to the car is not compatible with the connectors on the car i.e they will not fit together and have different coloured wiring. Shocked

Harnesses are:-
12S connector harness part number YMZ500800A Iss A
12N connector harness part number YMZ500780A Iss A
Car Harness part number YMZ500760C Iss C

D3 is Base Model year 05 (5A chassis number)

From all I've read there is only mention of one towing kit for the D3 and one for the D4.

Can anyone tell me the part number of the harness I need for an 05 model year D3 and if the 12S and 12N harnesses I have are compatible. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

According to my info (was right when I bought mine) the wiring harness kits are

The 13 pin is YWJ 500210
The 2 x 7 pin is YWJ 500200
So unless they've changed in the meantime I think you've got the wrong thing. ____

Hi Graham

You have quoted the number for the complete kits. I 've quoted part numbers for the individual harnesses. The harnesses I have came off of a 2006 D3.

I've got all three harnesses. It's just the one that connect to the car has the wrong connectors to fit the car.

Here are a few pictures of the connectors in the car and towing harness YMZ500760C iss C.















I spoke to the local dealer today and they were able to tell me that the original tow harness kit for 2005 model year had been superseded. They confirmed the car harness is not sold separately.

I think therefore I need a YMZ500760A or B harness. I'll post a wanted add. If anyone else has come across this issue then please get in touch. If I can't resolve it there will be a tow harness kit for sale

Thanks for the reply. My chassis number is a 5A. It appears the kit I have is for a 6A!.

I'll put it up for sale followed by awanted add for the 5A kit.
