Lancaster reading What a shoddy outfit |
|
Part ex'd my Disco 3 hse for a used 07 at Lancaster reading and paid extra £7,000 what a mistake!!
Drove my car home and found the brakes were binding and there was a whining noise comming from the rear about where the petrol cap is and got worse and would only stop when ignition was turned off (whining was intermitent but high pitched and unbearable). The windscreen wipers made a rubbing noise at the top and botton of the windscreen. The drive of the vehicle was poor as it lacked power when accelerating and was quite sluggish.
I Called landrover assistance and they informed me that there was a dent in the sill of the car so that I could not blame them as they wanted to get into vehicle to investigate the noise, they advised me to take it back to Lancaster to get it all checked out which I did.
I have had all these promblems from the first day, I spoke to landrover who will not give my old car back and refund my money as the Manager of the the franchise put it I signed for it and the faults have occured after and the car was checked and was working properly before handover.I have asked for an exchange of vehicle as in No way will I accept the piece of rubbish.
I have called lancaster three times today to discuss an exchange vehicle and both the service manager and the franchise manager have failed to call me back .
Lancaster is by far the worst dealership I have come accross and the franchise manager has told me that he is a very busy man and that Lancaster has thousands of satisfied customers which I find very hard to believe especially after reading the threads on here .
Be warned Lancaster is not a place if you want peace if mind and customer satisfaction when purchasing a vehicle.
I will update this post when I hear more from them.

They may have thousands of happy customers but with that attitude they'll also have thousands of unhappy ones! Loving the power of the TDV8!

How long have you had the car Shainy, is it still within the 30 day exchange period that they normally shout about?....... If it is, then they can't stop you asking for another vehicle surely, and as for the dented sill, it was there already, you haven't caused any further damage to it I presume.

I bought the car on the 15th of August 2007 and the faults occured on the same day, I have used the car not even TWO complete days and the vehicle was given back on the 20th august 2007.
So its within the 30 day period.
I have just had a call from the franchise manager of Lancaster Reading who appologises and assures me after reading this thread that the service manager will definitely call me today as he has been extremely busy to phone me, to find me a like exchange vehicle.
PS. I work in a large corporate company in the city that deals internationally ....but still have time to treat our clients with high regard, importance and promptly..IN BUSINESS REPUTATION IS EVERYTHING.!
Please keep reading this thread as I whish to tell it has it happens and whish to be fair when giving my final verdict on this company after spending £37,000 (inc. of the part ex)

I'm not sure if this will help..........................
As part of the Land Rover Approved Used Car Scheme, you have 30-days or 1,000 miles in which to replace the vehicle if you are not happy with it. I would exercise these rights and demand that you are given a vehicle of equal or better specification until the matter is resolved. Be reasonable so give them some colour choices that you would accept, but don't accept an older, higher mileage or more owners.
I would also invest in a Solicitors letter requesting a response on behalf of their client (ie you!).

I have just had a call from the sales manager of lancaster and he will be e-mailing me...
Lancaster will exchange the vehicle for a like vehicle.
And that if it goes over the 30 day period they will extend it.
I will only accept a one owner low miles car in black as that is what I specifically asked for and as I told the sales person as the time the only colour I wanted and would not consider any other car.
I will keep everyone informed and be fair in telling you guys exactly what happens..

dnd3..The dent was one you could tell was an old one, plus I only opened that side of the door for the Landrover assistance chap who was the one who pointed it out. When I spoke to the Sales Manager he even said to me "that it looked like it came like that from the factory" when he inspected it at Lancaster.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that the damage was caused at the factory, I think their Quality Assurance people are asleep for most of the time. Incidentally mine left the factory with paintwork and other issues, and this very same dealership repainted the area, and it's now covered in runs, and looks absolutely crap, I phoned L/R customer relations over 6 wks ago, and discussed this and other matters, and they said they would get them to call me and arrange to rectify things..............Well, what a coincidence, Yes, I'm still waiting for that call, but TBH, I'm really not sure that I want these clowns playing with it any more.

Lancaster offered to fill and spray the dent too, after hearing you had your car painted there I'm glad I refused.
If I wanted a dented and repaired car I would of bought one from salvage...
