Popping Noise Sounds Like Expanding Heater Duct - Advice pse
My Disco has developed a strange minor fault. Early on in a journey I get a loud pop, like a water bottle expanding, which sounds like it is coming from the right down behind the steering wheel, maybe a heating duct expanding as it warms up. Of course my dealer will find this very hard to pinpoint and fix. Has anyone come across this issue before, please? I have tried a few key word searches to no avail.2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather, towing a Coachman VIP 575

I've got exactly the same issue. It has only just started to happen (although this is the first winter I've had the vehicle).
It only happens once on each journey so I think it must be something to do with the expansion of a duct or something when it gets warm.
I haven't taken it to the dealer yet - I also don't want them to rip out the dash and make the thing creak even more badly than it does already.
Any (good) ideas, suggestions would be welcome.

It maybe a flap in the ventilation system sticking. The older the D3 gets the more you can hear the flaps close / open.

I think I get the same - I wondered if it was coming from the bong / click generator (had you noticed the indicator sound vanishes whilst the seat belt bonger bongs?. Until you disable it, that is.)
It's too quick to identify easily, but I thought it might be an aborted "digital" sound signal in yon device...

Could this be the same noise, that others have had on start up, that had been attributed to some form of electric arc ?

I'm reasonably certain that it is expanding plastic - I get the general feeling that unless it becomes a real problem perhaps we should just get the matter registered as an issue (which I have done) and see if it gets worse or just stops with the warmer weather.
Would that be a fair consensus?2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather, towing a Coachman VIP 575

could be some trim clips not seated correctly holding part of the interior under tension, once the vehicle starts to heat up the thermal expansion of the plastics could cause this - a bit like plate tectonics in your D3

hi, mine does it now and again altough its a quiet pop, its mostly its if i leave the disco outside over night and its cold.

The arcing is accompanied by a reboot of the entertainment system and sat nav, so I'd be pretty confident is electrical.
I think I've had the pop described here and in my case it's the heater flaps moving as the cabin temperature increases, prompting a redistribution of the airflow.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
