Tips for removing side vent

I have read the tips for getting the d3 vents out, but anyone got some advice of how to get the d4 side vent out and in? I have bought a replacement Landrover d4 vent in a different colour that I want to fit.

The original one in there at the moment seems very tight and I don't want to break it!

Cheers

Lift bonnet and you will see on the op of the inner wing near the bonnet hinge a hole, shine a torch down there and you will see the top of the vent and the two lugs, use a long screw driver to push the two lugs down and pop the vent out easy and does not break the lugs

Cheers for your advice.

I tried the screwdriver method and it was great. The tab closest to the drivers door was a bit tricky to get to, but the rest were easy.

Cheers

Here are a few pics. Before the vents are silver and match the wheels. I bought the vents to spray gloss black. But the ones I found were grey, so fitted them before spraying to see what they were like. They match the door handles ok, but I think they look a bit odd against the wheels. Trust Land Rover to build a car with loads of different shades of grey and silver parts splattered all over... they need to employ a designer!

Do you mean something like this?

I was thinking black grill with blue text to match the car's colour.

Thumbs Up Almost .... Thumbs Up Preferably with the letters 'Landrover' in red rather than 'Discovery' ... its got enough 'Discovery' lettering already Rolling Eyes

Ideally there would be available 'stick' on letters that fit exactly on the vents that are already there - so if you got fed up with them they could be 'picked' off as it were..... Very Happy

So.... anyone any ideas how to get red sticky 'Land Rover' letters to fit the OEM Land Rover Discovery side vents .... or is it a DIY 'Blue Peter' jobby .... maybe red sticky back plastic or is there a more 'professional' way to do it? Smile

I've tried the screwdriver method but cant seem to get anything to move so tried just pulling to the point the wing is moving in and out as I exert pressure. What am I doing wrong?
I'm pulling straight out away from the car, no up or down.
The screwdriver method seems the least likely to cause damage but am I lifting the outer or pushing down on the inner part of the clip?
I'm not really seeming to free anything.
Any tips?

Fisherman,

Know your pain.... I pulled and pulled and finally they gave with no breaks. Horrible job.

To aid I tied some rope through, made a loop for my foot to use a bit of extra weight to release the top tabs.

Extra care I suppose now as they are far more brittle than when I did it.
 Last of the D4 HSE...
