Does anyone know the part number for the spacer, should be easy to retro fit I hope, as seems whoever fitted the 13 pin electrics on mine didn't fit it either Sad
I have to amend an 13 to 7 pin adapter for the trailers I use for my Rowing Club, but would prefer to do a proper job, so that it we upgrade and have to use 13 pin plugs they can be used without amending Razz

Thanks

Dave

If you want to see what it should look like, download from Topix the fitting instructions from the towing section for vplat0136, last page clearly shows spacer which bolts to crossmember onto which the 13 pin socket bolts to. Seems like dealer couldnt be bothered to do job correctly, or its not a genuine Land Rover electrics kit.

But if you bolt the spacer to the crossmember first, the socket is in the wrong orientation completely. This is why I had to buy longer bolts to go through the both the socket and the spacer.
The kit is wrong !!

So after some months of searching been able to establish that the spacer plate and screws are available to get round this issue.

A company in Telford (Right Connections) it seems makes aftermarket kits for both D3 and D4, their kit includes the spacer, which if you contact them and quote the kit number, which can be got from their online catalog (D3 is 21190501RC), they can supply separately.

I have just ordered and with P&P is a grand sum of £8. Hopefully easy to retro fit with out to many scrapped knuckles and contributions to the swear box Exclamation

Hope this helps anyone with the same issues, if it all goes paer shapped will let you know.

Cheers

Dave

So managed to fit with ease. The kit I bought came with 3 nuts, washers and bolts, along with the all important spacer.

The spacer mounts using the threaded holes in the cross member and the bolts supplied fit these, so nuts and washers not needed.

The socket then rotates 180 degrees and mounts on the spacer, using the original bolts. There are captive nuts in the spacer.

The end result is that the socket has the cover flap with the hinge next to the rear towing eye, the plug then mates at 6 o'clock and locks at 9 o'clock. The flange on the plug being clear of everything as it rotates to lock.

Problem fully resolved and no need to "amend" plugs to fit.

Simple job and cheap to resolve, a mere £8

I fitted mine last weekend as a replacement for the 7 pin and put the 13 pin on the drivers side with the flap opening to the right

Haven't tried it with caravan yet but had no problems with connecting the Atera Strada bike rack
