Iphone 5 in D4 2011

Folks,

I pick up my D4 on Saturday and want to use my Iphone 5 using the Ipod socket to play my music.

I'm think I will need one of the cables available through this site and a 30pin to lightening connector so it fits the Iphone 5.

Anyone done this already, is that the best way to do it???

Cheers,

Mark

Hello is the D4 new or used ?

On our first D4 (early model late 2009) we had to use the proprietary cable with the 30 pin ipod adaptor. There is regrettably no guarantee that this will work with a 30pin to Lightning adaptor I'm afraid and different manufacturers are reporting different results.

If you have a new D4 post the facelift and with the new audio system then it just uses a straightforward USB port for iPod in and so your normal Lightning charge/sync lead will work. If not then you can also use bluetooth audio streaming on the newer unit.

Hope this helps.

It's a 2011 landmark. It's got a iPod port with a USB port next to it. It has Bluetooth for the phone but not sure if I can play music through this. I read somewhere that attaching to USB doesn't work??

No I'm afraid the standard lead will not work with the USB port in your car as that socket will only accept a USB stick.

You will need to use the Land Rover iPod port and cable and try iy with the 30 pin to lightning adaptor.

I did see a post a bit further down which seemed to imply somebody was using that combo and it was working ok

EDIT: Here you go, third post down from Wiggs

I have a 2011 Landmark, and can confirm the standard LR iPod lead connected to an apple 30 pin Dock to Lightning adaptor works perfectly with iPhone 5 including charging/music/phonebook etc.
Thumbs Up

I used this adaptor after finding the solid one doesn't give enough room for the longer phone to sit in the tray:

I use one of these to stream music over Bluetooth. It plugs into the iPod dock, and my phone connects to it to play audio.

I'm baffled... all Marco has to do is plug the apple lighting connector to the LR iPod lead for this car... it's a 2011 Landmark and everything works. Don't know what 2012MY or USB connectors and bluetooth streaming have to do with it?
Confused

Hi,

music by the lead has much more comfort - you can control the iPhone properly with playlists and everything through the touchscreen.

Greetings

My iPhone 5 works with the Apple supplied cable plugged into the iPod socket in the cubby box lid. Np problems, full control through the car ICE. Thumbs Up
