Discovery 3 2004 and i would like to rip all the air out and convert to spring / struts
Why? Reliablility I'm assuming? Have you got issues currently?
The air suspension system is not really that unreliable at all. The compressor can go (if it hasn't already) and you might get a leak, but you can fit a much better AMK compressor to see that it'll last you. I wouldn't spoil an excellent car by fitting springs. Just getting me down at present as fitted new AMK - fitted new air tank - fitted new valve next to pump - fitted the relay and still got fault and all it is giving me is air supply .... Can't hear any leaks and the air tank has got plenty of air left in it if i crack the pipe of it has got plenty in tank. So a little miffed at present
Having done as much as you have surely you should persist to finish the job.
Installing coil springs is definitely a backwards step.

I'm with you on this one, we have 2 D3s and they have been the least reliable vehicles we have ever owned in such a short period of ownership.
Lovely when they are going, but almost fragile for a 4x4/ Land Rover.
My 25 yr old shogun has been far more reliable, even though it's basic and agricultural.
Friends say, " nice car, I would like one of those" to which I reply Don't do it, only if it has a dealer warranty left on it.
Anyway I digress, I'm also looking at going over to the coil side.
