Sat Nav DVD back up

I know that some of you have successfully created a back up of your Sat Nav discs. I would also like to do this but i wanted some advise before i do it. Is it as simple as putting my Sat Nav disc in the computer & creating a copy of the disc on my dual layer burner or is there any anti-copy software i need to get around?

Before anyone jumps down my neck - I own an original copy of the disc & want a single copy for back up purposes only.

Yes it is very simple ..no other software needed except a copying software , nero etc .

Personally i use DVD Decrypter its free aswell http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/

I never have any problems , but i would suggest you use verbatim duel layer disks as i have found these to be the best , cheaper ones often fail when burning .

If you need advice on how to use dvd decrypter just let me know ..but its very simple

I have sent approx 4 hours trying to copy the disc this evening, i have used Roxio, DVD decrypter & simple copy & paste & i cannot get a usable copy burnt. All i have been left with is ten quids worth of DVD coasters - anybody got any ideas? I am missing something or is it more difficult than i thought?

My laptop can burn DL discs, so i know that isn't the problem (hopefully). The disc i am attempting to copy is YIW5002005.

The one disc which i managed to successfully copy i put into the car & the screen said the "the disc contains no maps?"

Any other suggestions?

Why do you want to back it up?

Surely it just stays in the DVD drive in car, if for some bizarre reason it should develop a fault get it swapped under warranty

I've had no problems copying yiw500200 or yiw500250 with dvd decrypter. Just make an image of the original, and then burn the image to a blank disc - nothing complicated, no settings to set, etc, it just works! Smile

France 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham BlueDiscovery 3

Hello,
What is the last updated version available for SAT DVD ? (Europe)
My D3 model is a January 2006 one, I add a YIW500012 and my retailer sold me in december 2006 the official LR last version "YIW500013", which was very very expensive (344€ in France).
I see it exists 2 other versions: YIW500200 and YIW500250, what difference ? What is the LR price for these DVD's in UK ?

Thanks.

YIW500200 was released in August 2006 and YIW500250 was released in April 2007. Both have exactly the same mapping data and POI databases - Navteq Q3 2005 data. Your YIW500012 has late 2003/early 2004 maps, and YIW500013 has the Q3 2004 maps.

The only difference with yiw500250 is it contains a newer software update for the satnav computer (presumably to match the version in the 08MY vehicles). I've seen no difference whatsoever in using it, so to anyone with YIW500200 - don't waste your money getting 250.

LR dealer price is approx €180 here in Ireland inc vat. You can buy the DVD direct from Navteq at www.navigation.com for €199.

But, don't waste your money updating now. According to Nick, who's in touch with Navteq, a new DVD using the Q3 2006 data is imminent.

is there any other way to get a copy of the DVD? I've ruined mine (don't ask) and I am a bit hesitant about paying £150+ for a new one.
