Switched live for dash mounted detector

Tried searching before posting with no luck so apologies.
I am looking for the best cable route and fuse location to pick up a switched live for a speed camera monitor/detector mounted on the windscreen directly above the centre dash speaker on a MY15.
Any help appreciated thanks.

Piggyback from accessory socket and thread wire up to the speaker mount (there is a suitable hole already). Once you are happy with the cable run add foam to it where it might rattle and tie-wrap it where you have suitable structure. Don't forget the inline fuse.

Hi Robbie and thanks for quick reply Thumbs Up
By accessory socket I assume you mean lighter socket in centre of dash.
I assume either will do (left or right)?
I am a spark and have a habit of breaking delicate plastic things therefore any advice on getting the trim off around the socket and the speaker grille would be useful.
cheers

I've abandoned this!
Note to self
Before you spend 50 quid on cables and subscriptions check that the gps signals make it through the heated/tinted windscreen!
They don't!

They do.... sort of ... see my post "incident cameras (dashcam) will not work through screen!" - 24th July 2015. My wifes mobile Garmin Nuvi picks up a GPS signal inside the Disco ... no problem... but a dashcam fitting 'specialist' could not get a signal on a 'vision drive' or some such... so also gave up....!

Others on here .... with blackvue or similar (not very discreet... if you get my drift) have been OK it seems. The in car sat nav has a thingy on the dashboard (i think.....?) to pick up GPS through the windscreen.... so others should be able to....?

The in built sat nav GPS reciever is in the upper tailgate brake light binnacle ....but most gps receivers should be fine through the windscreen eg my Nexus 7 receives the signal fine an the dash Smile

Thanks for replies.
The satnav antenna on my15 is on the roof.
All I know is I get 4 bars gps strength outside the car or 2-3 with the drivers door open and absolutely nothing on the dash with the door closed.
Most modern mobiles and tablets like the nexus 7 use something called assisted gps that uses mobile phone masts and/ or wifi hotspots to assist or substitute the gps satellite data when you have poor or no reception.
Having said that as far as i am aware blackvue and tom Tom (that don't) seem to work fine for others on here so I guess that's possibly down to the fact that my snooper neo 4 is ten years old and things have moved on. That's a hundred years in tech terms!
By the way I rang snooper to check this out and they said it's a known problem with all their products, damn awful and arrogant technical representative too!

For GPS L1 frequency there is a little over 3dB lost through the D3/D4 heated front screen. For L2 the drop is much less (as measured on my MY05 D3).

If the equipment GPS is sensitive enough it can cope with the signal attenuation, if not then you are in a pickle.

Exactly thanks Robbie.
Gone for camera alert/pocket gps app instead and seems to work great on my iPhone so far, I will be downloading the poi for integration into the LR sat nav though as iPhone battery drain is horrendous using gps!
