Phone install on D4 2010 model

Hi

Searching for topics to install an integrated Bluetooth phone system in a D4 only brings up the install for D3s.

Is there an aftermarket/LR kit that I could install in my D4 SE perhaps or did someone installed one yet?

Hope it will not break the bank though...

Cheers

As it's a d4 module that's used in most of the d3 retrofit kits, I would say do it in the same way. Thumbs Up

Do you have the large colour touchscreen ? Or the smaller basic screen ?

Wiggs, I have the D4 color screen - only one in RSA - the one with 4x4 info, Sat Nav etc.

There is a menu item "phone" and a radio button "phone" but no steering wheel buttons.

Yeh you can fit it then

Need

Bluetooth module
Most cable
Steering wheel buttons

I suspect you will already have a mic

It will need enabling though once fitted

OK, cool then...

I do have IIDTool, so can enable it.

I will also get the mic as my car does not have that installed.

Is it necessary to put the module way back in the rear, or can I get away with a "closer to the centre consul" install?

Excellent - I will also check to see if the mic is not installed yet - It may just be sitting there in the centre light consul.

Just some feedback of the install - maybe for the Africa people (especially the southern side), as we are almost on another planet... Rolling with laughter

Wiggs, Geoff and Bodsy were most helpful, but I had one common issue - to get the parts sent to South Africa - tried my own courier as pick-up, but they could not guarantee the delivery... send via friends that visited Germany, might have not be on time... and my friends that stay in London, they would only visit in another years time... it is a real issue to get the parts send into the black Africa hole... not even mentioning what the cost would be of getting it here, if at any....

Anyway - I visited our local breakers, but there was not any Disco 4s that were getting scrapped - I still don't know if this is good... Laughing

So, I went and sat with Land Rover dealers... the first one did not want to even have a look, just told me it is impossible.... so I didn't stay for coffee....

Land Rover Centurion's Rodney really took his time to understand the "project" and I made print-outs of the part numbers, install guides (Thanks Wiggs and Bodsey!!) and we got down to ordering the parts...
D4 Bluetooth Module - no issue
Microphone - no issue
Steering switches.... this was where the LR ordering system were not helpful, so I got another VIN number of a D4 2011 with BT installed (from the second hand cars department). Bingo, we got the part number and ordered.
Most cable - my son is in Networks and quickly made up the fiber harness - I was skeptical though...

Parts arrived within 2 days and I installed as per Wiggs's document - one change:
Fuse 68 in D4 2010 model is for Sat Nav, Radio and Telephone - so I tapped into this fuse circuit.

I updated CCF with IIDTool - again, thanks Patrick from Gap Diagnostics.

The Steering switches were just a fiddle to get working on my specific model - seems there is a wiring difference for the horn switch from 2010 to 2011, but I sorted that out - all other switches works properly.

Again, I need to say that I would not even considered this install without the help from these mentioned members. A huge thank you to all of you... Bow down Bow down Bow down Bow down
