I find the D4 slow off the mark which can be a real pain nipping on to roundabouts. Basically I put my foot down from stationary and it takes a while to get going. It's a company car which I've had for a couple of months - I have been trying to find out if this is a common issue or indeed just a feature of the car but in searches have only found references to D3's.
Is this common, is there a fix, or is it just slow to spool up (which seems unlikely on a turbo vehicle under 20 years old)?
Car is 2013 3.0 SDV6 on just under 30k miles.

common, really - the torque put out by the engine is managed by the software which makes it apparently hesitate. With gentle throttle inputs and an awareness if it you can drive round it but I agree it's a bit of a pain. I think there's an alternative gearbox program that LR can apply which makes it better, though there's a reported drop of 1-2 mpg with it.

Thanks both.
I searched for "slow off the mark", "slow pick up", "slow start", "turbo lag", "stutter" and others, but didn't think of "hesitation"!

I'm booked in for re map as mentioned in the various threads you've been sent a link to. Sounds like you may be in the same situation! I'll post results of my re-map on Monday!

I noticed mine doing that too. I've found either slowing before the roundabout then slight acceleration as I approach the roundabout so it's ready to pick up, or shift down on the paddle shifter to stay in a lower gear then hold the up shifter when I exit the roundabout to go back into auto, seems to work around the hesitation. Also found that being slow of the mark is not a problem as everyone gets out the way of the Discovery anyway!
