Headlamp Flashing (Stupid Question)
I shall apologise in advance for the incredibly stupid question However!
On the few cars I've owned, to flash the lights you simply pull the stalk towards the steering wheel, but to turn on main beam there seems to have been two ways, my preferred, pushing the stalk away from the steering wheel, or pulling it towards the steering wheel with a little more force and rather than flashing the lights this makes them stay on main beam (if the lights were already on).
With my D4, I assumed it was the push pull method, however mine seems to do both unless I am very gentle with the stalk and being an angry sole behind the wheel that doesn't happen very often.
Am I right in thinking something has worn and I need a new stalk, or does the stalk actually work on both systems?
As I said, sorry for the stupid question!Andy

What has an angry fish got to do with it
The stalk has 2 positions and a further spring position.
Position 1 will have headlamps on dip, push towards fascia for main beam Position 2 (blue light on).
From Position 1 there is a spring loaded Position 3 towards wheel for headlamp main beam flash or hold if you really are an angry soul!
All normal stuff really.... Stew,

Oh
That will teach me for posting without reading what I had written and I don't even like fish!
Thank you for confirming the stalk positions, seems I either need a new one, or learn to control my road (fishing) rage! Andy

The best way to test this is to go to an isolated car park at night and flash your lights a few times 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

There is a fine line between catching a fish and scaling it, and picking up a hooker and burying her in the desert.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
