Can anyone recommend a true sealing air intake and cargo barrier for the Discovery 3 SE?

Safari 4x4 do a proper snorkel for the TDV6. A few of the forum members on here have them fitted.

In terms of a cargo barriers, I had the Landrover supplied one installed around 6 weeks ago. It is made by Hayman Reece and has been available since about March apparently.

While I haven't seen alternatives in the flesh, it seems fine so far. Some points which may be of interest are:
1. It was installed by LR with the load space mat in place and still functioning, although this sort of defeats the purpose for mine in storing gear up high. I have since removed the loadspace mat.
2. It mounts to the floor to the 2 tiedown points closest to the back of the second row seats, in addition to 2 holes drilled up high above the inside of the tailgate, just under the roof, with basically flat bar running all the way forward to the top of the cargo barrier
3. With the second row seat headrests fully up, it is a good 100mm behind them, meaning that it probably eats into the cargo area a bit more than ideal.

Just as a matter of interest do you know the part number for the LR OZ cargo barrier, I wonder if it's the same as the ROW which is VUB501170.

I bought our safari snorkel last week too - looking forward to hearing how the install goes - contemplating paying someone else to fit it - but with the D3, am I right, you don't have to use a hole saw to drill big holes in the car? It just goes in place of the air inlet on the RHS??

Discovery343 - Regarding the raised air intake, I opted for the LR OEM and fitted it without any great problems (however the LR supplied bolt for the top of the winsdcreen trim was way too short) and I also stuffed the original plastic air intake whilst removing it - the lugs on the bottom broke off and fell down in the lower mudguard area never to be seen again! I have just done around 3000 km from Brisbane to Darwin and then from Adelaide across to Canberra and the air cleaner is still pretty good. I was worried about loss of vision forward with a snorkel but the LR OEM is almost imperceptible. You do notice it when you get into and out of the the vehicle though. There is no great increase in air noise either, so that was a bonus.

Simon supplied one from 4x4intelligence and I fitted it the same afternoon. Little bit fiddly getting the upper rear bolts in though. I also painted the stays (to match my interior colour) that go from there back to the cargo barrier. One thing I did find is that even on the rearmost positioning of the adjustable stays the barrier is up against the rear headrests of the second row seats in my 5 seater. I might be tempted to adjust (read; drill some new holes) the stays so that there is a bitmore clearance as I can't raise the headrests unless I first release the seats from their upright position.

Other than the slight bit of fiddling for my 5 seater, I can recommend the price and speedy supply from 4x4intelligence.

Safari Snorkel Instalation

Just finished Exclamation
The instructions are quite folowable, but it says 180 minutes for the job Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter
I spent 1 hour last night takeing the trim etc off, then to install just over 4 hours Exclamation OK I am not the fastest, the result was good Very Happy
Some observations, the drilling of the A piller is the hardest , I tried to piolet hole it first to no avail Big Cry so resorted to useing some high speed drills, strange things these are, there German and need to run very fast, also run very hot, my Makita was not quite fast enough but it had to do , They however went straight through. There make is ARTU PROFI-LINE, I have used them quite a dit , they are for drilling very hard steel.
The bolts behind the snorkel are a Censored to do up , not much space to get your hand at them , some pacence is needed Rolling Eyes .

The short of it is if you can spend the time at it go for it , if not let where you purchased it do it and let them try to do it in 180 minutes Exclamation Exclamation

Eneyway there was no bad language and a good result. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Question on the cargo barrier not having had one before, once it is installed are you able to take it back out again? As mine is a 7 seater are you still able to use the 7 seats if the barrier is in there, thanks,

If you mean the Land Rover one, it is removable BUT you cannot use the last row of seats with it installed.

and then select the Owner Information Web site you can download in pdf format the fitting and use instructions before you buy.

Stevo - the Autosafe cargo barrier supplied by 4x4intelligence.com.au is easily removed, once installed the first time - about 3-4 mins sees 4 screws undone and the barrier removed (or replcaed back in) - far simpler and easier I find even than the Milford barrier I had in my D2.

But - you do not use the 3rd row seats with the barrier in place. And note that this barrier can also be used behind the front seats of ever carrying a load and no passengers!
