How To Place Halo Daytime Lights In Disco 3 Headlights?

I have just been reading a (rather old) thread where I noticed a member by the name of Spanner had fitted 130mm Led rings into LR3 headlights.
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic61097-360.html

I am going to attempt this, but the question is, does anyone know how would be the best way to wire them up exactly, and where to mount the LED ring?

I have had my Halogen lights apart before to detango them, and quite like the idea of having running lights in the main headlight, so any guidance here would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone has modded their Halogen headlights, any input would be great.

Thanks in advance...

I fitted the halo rings to my fogs and ordered some 130mm rings for another day. I have only quickly looked at them but 130mm outside diameter for my headlamp looks too big .... I will double check but check the size before you order .... Let us know how you get on. Dave

Spanner put then around the ring of the main beam unit, on Xenons you could also put them around the xenon fish eye, on your halogens you'd only have the first option Thumbs Up

As for wiring, if you want them as DRLs seperate to the side lights, just run a new feed that's ignition live , use a piggy back fuse in the engine fuse box Thumbs Up

Thanks for the feedback. Dave you will probably do yurs before me, since my LED ring is coming from Honk Kong and will probably take 3 or more weeks to come, so please let me know if you brave it first Wink

I just PM'd Spanner and he used 120mm Led rings, not 130s...

How long is the cable that comes with the rings, long enough to extend out the light cluster?

Then, how much more cable is needed from the cluster?

Where dou you exit the cable from the cluster?

I've been planning a similar mod with my xenon's and tie it in with a de-tango.

Be interested to see how this turns out.

If you want to fit thse inside your headlamp then you will need to use a hot air gun to remove the lense from the light. Check out the many detango threads on here to see how its done in detail.
