How to clean a tent?
Teenager has returned from Glastonbury with a tent that "needs to be cleaned". It's only a cheap nylon (or whatever it is) one, so there's a temptation to just skip it, but it's has survived two Glastonbury's without failing so I'll give it a clean.
Having never cleaned a tent in my life, I was thinking that we (i.e me) would scrub it with Fairy, hose it off and hang it over the rotary drier to dry.
Just thought I'd ask if there's a better method?2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Skip it - you'll never get the mud stains off regardless of what you do to it.

Brilliant, I hadn't thought of that
If it fits in our machine, which hopefully it will, that's what I'll do. I have a new supply of Nikwax as well.

Tempting, but as it's just for "Festival Use" and not by me, I couldn't give a t**s about the mud stains. It's bound to get muddy again anyway. Just want the interior to be clean.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I'm a little concerned that a washing machine will wreck it. I'll look at the seams etc. and maybe just hand wash/scrub with Techwash.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Having consulted Google, it would seem that detergents are not a good idea. Sponging with Techwash hosing off and then reproofing seems the way to go.
Shame, chucking it in the washing machine would have been brilliant, but I'm worried that it might wreck the machine and or the tent.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
