Additional Spot/Hazard Light control location?

Hi Guys,

I'm going to be getting some additional lights, things like an LED light bar to go on the roofrack, along with some other spot/worklights etc.

I'd like to be able to control them all from the drivers seat and have been looking at the most discrete way to do it.

Anyone got any setups they can share, or ideas?

I've been thinking of either putting them in the lower cubby in the centre console below the cigarette lighter adaptor etc.
The other idea I had, now I've stripped out the phone cradle under the arm wrest is putting the switches under there which would be out of sight but I'm worried about getting decent switches that won't interfere with me being able to put things in the coin tray.

Any suggestions thankfully received.

Alex

The overhead light panel is a convenient and popular place to add additional switches. If you ever want to go back to standard then just fit a new panel.

I got a couple of wiring looms with remote control switching from eBay. No wires into the cabin and handy if you can't find your car in the carpark. Not that mines loosable.

Will try and find the link later Thumbs Up

This is the one I used.

eBay Item No. 321512274262

Just be mindful that one remote switches both relays so all 4 roof lights come on at the same time. Will probably do something like this though.

As I want to keep the front as OEM as possible I'm going a totally different route for switching anything in the D3.

As I have a GVIF unit and a Raspberry PI 2 mounted for multimedia, the PI will be used to switch the necessary relays. All trough the factory touchscreen. Hardware for the PI for doing this is available, the touchscreen mod is done here before.

I took some pictures of the D3 with lights off and on which are used as a clickable image on the PI with some logic behind. Just touch the wanted lights on the image and they will switch on/off.

So far the theory.. I've ordered the necessary parts and plan to do some soldering during next months vacation. Wink
