Insurance Co. refused to insure....without a Tracker....!! |
|
Current insurance company didn't want to know unless new car has tracker fitted. .... Tried LandRover Insurance and they will without for a couple of hundred more.....
So now that's around another £1300 ...£749 for LR to fit & £549 for 3 yrs subscription..... Still I figure spending 56k anyway what's £1300 for peace of mind....I hope.....
I know I could get if fitted elsewhere a bit cheaper .... But I can't be arsed with the hassle and if it's not done right at least I can take it back..... Gets everything done at delivery without me agonising over its safety whilst waiting for a fitter.....
Not that I know anything about them much.... How does tracker get notified if I'm not about to tell them it's been nicked? Only going to be Cat 5 not Cat 6 ..... Don't know why yet....? 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

I spoke to Admiral the other day re our new Discovery and they do not require any form of tracker to be fitted. Though, like you, for peace of mind we went ahead and had one fitted at the dealer anyway.
As far as I'm aware a Cat5 has a higher specification than a Cat6. MY15 D4 SDV6 HSE Corris Grey - Gone

LV wanted a Tracker fitted two years ago otherwise they wouldn't cover for Theft or Attempted Theft until it was fitted, they still wanted three times what Admiral wanted as above, Admiral didn't and still don't, for mine anyway.

Considering that my '63 plate FL2 HSE Lux cost £265 for the year (10,000 miles private & 20,000 miles class 1 business use a year) this all looks a bit worrying!!
Gone to check with Compare the Meerkat and it's only adding around £100 to the annual figure....
I wonder why the difference 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!

I have to agree that to me |
|
Having to fit a tracker is .....
My xk is group 40 or 42.....
The premium is reasonable
They didn't ask for a tracker or even ask if there was one on...
A couple who live close to me had (repeat had) an up market Audi
It was services one week & the week after taken from the apartments where we are at...
The key was cloned at the plac where it was serviced...no alarms etc
Thectracker traced it to a place in Bradford where it was either stripped for parts or the tracker taken off...evidentally this is the way these are defeated... BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Doubt an insurance company would be happy with a 'DIY' to be honest.... Will want certification from a dealer I'm guessing.... 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black
