dash rattle
Hi all, wonder if I cold get some advice?...
I have a lovely 08 plate D3 with only 45k on the clock and about a month ago it started to develop a "cracking" sound from behind the dash - I think it's the top panel slightly moving. That's ok, they're stiff trucks but now there's a good rattle from right behind the centre of the dash. The truck hasn't been off road or done anything remotely more than country roads yet but I think something has come loose? It had a cambelt done just before I purchased it and I wonder if that has meant taking something off and it's just worked a little loose?
Also, I've got a noise of air coming in (like a window is minutely open) in the boot area but can't check it whilst I'm driving obviously - is that just the shaw of the truck at the back or do you think it's a seal on a window or the tailgate? it's not a loud noise and only at motorway speeds.
Thanks a lot for the help!

I had a similar thing and Neve Overland (where I purchased it from) said it was a sat nav cable that had come un-stuck from the dash and was wobbling. They "fixed it" and that lasted for about 5 minutes before it started again. I am hoping to find out how to take the dash off to try and fix it myself.
Apparently the cracking noise is totally normal from what they told me but I'm not convinced that it has to stay there - I'm sure it could be cured.

One crack after about 10 to 15 minutes driving is the heater control panel warming up. I discovered this completely by accident one day. I went to adjust the blower speed at the exact time the crack sound was produced. I felt it with my fingers too. I've since looked into the cause. It appears to be the front and back panel expanding at different rates causing a rapid moment, kinda like mini earthquake.Freelander SE 2005 Auto.

I sometimes get an annoying rattle when I'm driving... one day I tried putting pressure on different parts of the dash while driving slowly down my street and heard several snaps and pops (can't remember where my hand was at the time) and the rattling stopped. It's a 54 plate, registered in 05, so I just thought that over the years, maybe the dash has started to work itself a bit loose.what is this life, if full of care?
we have no time to stand and stare.
