It's that old devil called EGR again.

Hi folks. First post and it's a cry for help! Sad Big Cry

OK, I know the EGR valve(s) is an old and done to death issue but despite searching I couldn't find specific answers to ALL my questions. So please bear with me. Rolling Eyes

2008 2.7 V6 with 90K on the clock. ....... I believe it's my R/H EGR valve, throwing up error code P140A. If that is the case can someone who knows for sure definitely ....
(a) Confirm that it is definitely the R/H EGR valve. Question
(b) Whether it is easier to replace rather than try to clean and replace. Question
(c) Whether I should replace L/H one as well. Question
(d) And how much time it would take for a half competent mechanically capable person to replace one or both, depending on answer to (c). Question

I appreciate that opinions are like backsides and everyone has one, and everyone likes to be helpful, but if you're not sure please don't post. Thumbs Up

Thank you for youe patience and understanding. Bow down

Welcome to the forum!

I also favour the blank and remap approach. The blanks are cheap, discrete and easy to fit. A good remap that disables the warning light achieves the aim and leaves you with a vehicle that drives much better than standard. Living where you do you have both a tuning company and a good Indy within easy reach.

Nah, not appropriate for this place. Everyone is welcome and in the history of the forum only 3 members have ever truly irritated me, so just go with the flow as this place is stacked with good people ready to help with all manner of things.

Pretty sure that's actually the left hand bank (Bank "1" or "B"). The "C" is confusing but, I believe, "A" is the right hand bank while others ("B" and "C") are left. Wink

On point (b), it's usually the bearings that fail, in which case cleaning would make no difference. Thumbs Up

Yep, Alive is the nearest tuning place to those of us who live in the top bit of Lincolnshire, otherwise it's a journey up to BAS.

I've heard that Alive do an EGR delete file but not seen it on their site. Presumably you can confirm this Mike?

Yes, they do Thumbs Up

Alive offer an EGR delete, either with or without a performance map at the same time

They can even map out the EGR on cars with 3rd party remaps, while still retaining the remap
