Optima Yellow top, or alternative?
anyone any experience of leisure batteries that are more cost-effective than the Optima? For sure it's great battery, but it is quite a lot and I'm interested if there are good batteries at better value price points out there?

I had the same debate, but eventually settled on the yellow top Optima. It is expensive but I'm a true believer in getting what you pay for, and I figured the yellow top had to get such a good name for some reason! Hopefully it'll give me many years hassle free use

There was discussion of another brand on D3Club, as good as YT but well cheaper. Mine's now 5 years old and as good as new as far as I can tell but will prob change to the cheaper one. Will see if I can find a link.
