You need someone with a faultmate or similar diagnostics to fiddle with the CCF and enable it, if indeed that is the issue, I ain't no expert but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon

There's your problem! If the rear park sensors bleep when you select reverse with the trail or attached they have not been enabled. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

You need to change(enable tow bar) it in the CCF, I doubt you can do it with your scanner. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

If they are LED trailer lights even enabling it in the CCF (for which you will need access to specific diagnostic equipment e.g. IID tool or Faultmate) will still not make the trailer dash light flash. D4's seem to work ok with LED trailer lights (unlike D3s). However the LEDs do not draw enough current for the electronics to recognise that a trailer is connected, but in my experience the lights on the trailer will still work fine.

Have you got access to another trailer or lighting board to plug in and try with ordinary bulbs? It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
