Old D3 warranty
I have found warranty for my 2006 122k D3.
My main concern is the engine cover, that is DSL''s fault .
I have a screen shot of what is covered but not sure how this works in real life.
What do the learned guys/girls on here think about this cover vs cost.
Not a good picture but here is the list
ENGINE
3 STAR
4 STAR
5 STAR All Warranties cover the following parts under ENGINE category
The rocker assembly, including hydraulic followers, inlet and exhaust valves [not burnt valves], springs and guides, cylinder head [not cracks and de-coking or porous heads], cylinder head gasket [except skim], push rods, camshaft and followers, timing gears and chains [excluding tensioner], oil pump, pistons and rings, cylinder bores, con rods, gudgeon pins and bearings, crankshaft and bearings, inlet manifold, flywheel and ring gear, Timing belts are covered as long as they have been changed in line with the manufacturers schedules. You will need to be able to provide proof of this.

You just need to be sure re the "beyond economical repair" implications if that's in the T&Cs, often expressed as "up to the value". If that's in there, they won't spend, say, £10k on a car valued at £4k. Just be aware of that.

OK, will look at that.
I have become parnoid because my oil light takes a couple of seconds before it goes out in the morning. Oil level is fine and only just started to do it. And your epic story of course An honorable defeat is better than a dishonorable victory.” ― Millard Fillmore

Ive used warranty direct on last d3 and warranty wise on current d3
2006 106k
Both have paid out on the button no problem to date
Click4warranty i cancelled in the 14 day period as i felt the cover was below par and i had such a job getting my premium back in the cooling off period i wondered what trouble i would have had with sn actual claim!....................................................................................................
If my wife ever sells my stuff for what she thinks I paid for them, you lot are gonna get some bargains!

My case was a bit ususual due to the high cost of getting her back to the UK. It would have cost me £3.2k to get the car back (after AA paying £5.8k), then say 5k for a "new" engine, car would have maybe then been worth £3.5k. There was only one sensible option. Even getting it to the drive and scrapping it there was not an option as wouldn't have recovered the costs of getting her home.

Del
The scary bit, is that you looked after the D3 and didn't abuse her (much) and still the engine let go.
One of my guys who doesn't get the LR thing just can't understand why I don't just take it back and get something else.

She had just had an oil and filter change before I headed off (4k miles before the end) just to keep her sweet. The file on her is about 3" thick, she wanted for nothing. Pays yer money and takes yer chance.

True, hence looking at warranty cover and reading up on the oil light as we post.

That line of thought went through my mind a good few times!!
And that was before the engine gave up.
