19GB of music, but how to play it in MY2015? |
|
In my MY2010 I used a 32GB USB loaded with music tracks in a WMV format and they played perfectly.
Same USB stick in my MY2015 and some tracks (a lot of them) play with distortion... It's almost like you can hear someone talking over the track in parts, almost like an old crossed line on a telephone. It's a weird effect, and I can't explain it. I did I wonder whether the MY2015 doesn't like WMV files, so am reuploading a set of MP4 audio files onto the USB tonight - the same format you get as a straight iTunes download (which the MY2010 couldn't read).
If that doesn't work, am wondering what my options are.
I don't want to stream music from my Blackberry Q10 as that's my work powerhouse and I don't want to clog it with music.
If I was to buy an iPod nano and connect it in the glovebox, would that solve my problems? And does that enable you to control all the playlist features etc from the touchscreen, or do you have to use the Nano itself?
Sorry... Probably really simple questions, but this isn't my forte!
How do you play all your digital music files? 747_JK

And does the iPod Touch plug in to the Aux socket or the USB socket, or is there a plug I am missing in the glovebox with another option?
And to confirm, you can choose how you view your music on the Discovery touchscreen - I.e. Sort by album name or artist name etc?
Keen to check the detail before I order one... And do you know if a Nano would do the job as well? 747_JK

I use a 128Gb iPhone 6+ It's my EVERYTHING powerhouse and won't get clogged
I stream iTunes, Spotify and pretty much anything else from it to the Discovery.
It won't stream video which is a shame though
I've not even tried plugging it in to the USB socket in the glovebox
One glaringly daft thing to me is that I can't plug a USB with a movie in to the front USB and play it on the rear screens - I have to plug the usb in the rear usb slot - daft!!! especially as most people use the system for their kids. MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

Your iPhone 6+ does sound awesome, but I like BB security and the Q10 keyboard is essential for me, so I don't think I will be getting an Apple phone anytime soon...!
And because my Q10 is bluetoothed to the car for the phone, I would need an apple music player which can be plugged in, as I guess the car won't cope with 2 bluetoothed devices running concurrently. 747_JK

I've not tried but the car does connect to the phone as a phone device then lists it again as an audio device.
At end of day if you don't use one device for both then may as well plug the music one in.
Can't you use an SD card in a Q10 and/or spotify? MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

747_JK yes you can to answer your question, all the normal functions of an iPod, can't answer about a Nano as I have not got one, but I would presume it would be the same. And I have mine plugged into the USB socket in the glovebox. 2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)
