Radio Traffic Announce (TA) giving too much info too often M
The new to me D4 MY12 HSE radio Traffic Announce feature seems over keen compared to all other cars i've owned inc my old D3.
I drive motorways a lot so tend to have the TA feature turned on to pick up traffic issues in the area I'm in. Living in Bristol I'll normally get stuff from Radio Bristol, stuff from South Wales the like.
The D4 takes TA to the extreme. If I turn on TA and I'm say still in Bristol I seems get announcements from all over the country. The TA will cut in and say "Radio Bristol" on the screen but then they'll start talking about a crash in Suffolk !
The end result is the TA is cutting in ever 2 mins minutes telling me a load of stuff all over the country and I have to turn it off to get any quiet, but then I'm missing what might be important.
Is there any way to "localise" it a bit ?

Personally I have never used the feature, but I am sure there is a setting somewhere for Regional on/off?

The location of RDS traffic information isn't "controlled" by anything in the vehicle it is controlled by the company that transmits the information ...the in car system just picks up what is being transmitted on a local, regional or national basis.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Hi DG,
Interesting comment - I can't ever recall Radio Bristol being that interested in what's happening in Suffolk when driving my D3.
This is my first car with digital radio installed, is this distant info coming from that network perhaps ?

Are you listening through Analogue or DAB ?21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

The reason I ask is because ISTR there's slightly different RDS protocols for DAB
You have to think of RDS receiver in your motor as just that if it can detect the RDS signal from a station then it will do it's thing. It isn't able to decide whether or not it's relevant to you. It doesn't care
Some radio stations rebroadcast more serious incidents from further afield but unless you are in a high skip area it is very unlikely that your receiver has acquired super reception powers to receive local radio station signals from a hundred miles away ....it therefore is being rebroadcast by someone 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I was wondering about this. I like to have it on, but seem to get too many. It would be nice to be able to select which ones you get.Black D4 December 2014
