I have a removable tow bar without a red socket cover and have never had an issue in the 8 years and 3 discos I've had. If you have a full size spare they are a PITA to remove anyway!

Hi
Yes I use the removable tow bar which is why I'm concerned
Must of fallen out somewhere between bath, Milton Keynes and Leeds.
In two minds now whether to get one, is there a way to stop new one calling out?
Many thanks

I use a bit of chain and some key rings to tether it to the socket

Same here. If it falls out it can't go far. Drilled a small hole in the cover and attached via a short length of lightweight chain. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

With age, the plastic locking tab on the plug can loose its locking qualities. I find a gentle tap with a hammer on the plug will ensure it stays in place.
