Sat Nav/GPS Issue
Just upgraded the D3 to a D4 and have noticed that when I use the TomTom app on my iPhone in a cradle attached to the front window (cradle attached in the middle of the screen just above the dash) the TomTom app loses its GPS connection and yet when removed from the cradle and held away from the dash the GPS comes back on the TomTom app.
Is this due to the GPS from the Disco interfering with the iPhone's GPS and if so is there anything that can be done to avoid this as the TomTom app is far better than the Disco's sat nav?

Do you have a heated windscreen. If so, the heating elements in the screen effectively block the GPS signal.

I do have a heated front screen, however I had one on the Disco 3 and that never caused a problem.

I have an Asus tablet with built in GPS which I mount to the screen centrally and use for maps while out on the green lanes, in my MY2011 D4 this worked fine but in my MY2012 & MY2015 the built in GPS wont work, it just can't fix onto any satellites. To be able to use it I have an external bluetooth gps dongle which I can place at the side of the screen and it works fine, so there is something near the centre of the screen that blocks gps
Tomtom actually do a bluetooth gps receiver Cheers Ian

That's interesting as mine is a late 2012 model. I wonder if it is the remote locking sensor, which is at the front/middle of the dash by the window that is interfering with it?

Do they? Have looked online and can't find anything recent (2005 latest I could find) - just worried it might not work well with the TomTom iPhone app i.e. would the bluetooth gps receiver override the iPhone's built in GPS?

Sorry missed the bit where you said you were using an app on a Iphone, I think the Tomtom bluetooth dongle is for their stand alone systems Cheers Ian

I use a Bluetooth GPS receiver coupled to an iPad in the aircraft which works fine. It is intended for use with wifi only iPads as these do not have GPS whereas the cellular iPads do. My iPad Air is cellular and it and my iPhone 6 both work fine for navigation in the Disco using Apple maps and Ordnance Survey maps but I don't have the devices mounted near the windscreen.
