CCF Setting for tow electrics |
|
Ever since I had the tow electrics fitted to my car, I've got a message telling me that I have a trailer connected and it won't automatically change height with the terrain response settings.
I had the opportunity to have a look at the CCF file tonight with an IID tool.
The trailer electrics were set to 13 pin but I have a single 7 pin fitted. This is probably the cause.
However, there are several 7 pin options I could change it to. One that says 7 pin reversing lights, one says fog lights, one that says just 7 pin and one that says 7 pin USA.
What is the difference between them? Does the one with fog lights mean it provides power to the trailer fog lights or that it turns off the car fog light? Likewise, with the reversing lights? I can probably guess that I don't want the USA one but which of the others should I choose? MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Have I asked a question that the forum doesn't know the answer to?
Or has the person who knows the answer just not seen the question yet?

It would depend on what lights your trailer has !!
So if your trailer has fog lights .. Set the CCF to the one that says fog lights ( it will then power the correct pin for fog lights ) G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Didn't fog and reversing lights used to be in the other socket(Grey) as you had to have that one to make the two work if your caravan has a fog light i would use that one as that would be better for the uk Discovery 3 se gone

Ah, more confusion added by geoffsnook.
I don't have a caravan, just a general purpose trailer and a bike carrier. Both have single 12N electrics. The trailer has a fog light, the bike carrier doesn't. Neither have reversing lights.
So, 7 pin with fog sounds like the best choice but I wanted to check that means the car makes pin 2 of the 12N fog light and not that it tries to be really cleaver and turns off the car's fog lights if a trailer is attached (I can see that it could be a benefit for people towing a caravan if the car's fog lights were disabled to stop the mirrors being full of red glow from the caravan). I want the car's fog lights to stay on when a trailer (or bike carrier) is attached.
Does that make sense? MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Yes, I solved the problem.......
I removed the non-LR 7 pin electrics and put on genuine LR 13 pin electrics
The non-LR electrics had a bizarre set of connections, with plugs in the left boot cubby hole and also between both rear lights, connecting the left and right fog lights in to a single circuit which was causing errors to be logged whenever the fog lights were used.
Genuine LR electrics and the correct CCF setting has solved the problem. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

I didn't know until I removed them. They were fitted by an independent LR specialist garage, I'd assumed that they'd fitted LR wiring. Obviously not
What I find really strange is they the after market electrics had such an unnecessarily complicated set of connections compared with the LR wiring. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

My electrics were from TLO so are LR
What I don't understand is why this only happens ever now and then. When it was in for service recently they could not find anything wrong.
I did notice that when it works, going into snow setting the car raises but not when I get the trailer connected warning.
The ccf settings are as posted on here.
