Extended warranty of general interest.
Hi all, just out of interest, has anyone else experienced this :-
My D4 HSE ends its JLR warranty from new on 28.02.2015. I have had no notification from JLR to update the JLR warranty for a further 1 YR with the extended warranty scheme. I rang JLR cutomer relations and they found no record of my car but could not do a vin check as computer was playing up?? This was put down to the fact that I had placed a personalised plate on the car? this was 12 months ago? they gave me the official JLR warranty providers, car care tel. no. which I promptly rang. Funny that car care had full details of the car on the new plate but had not issued paperwork because JLR hadn't instructed them to do so. Paperwork now on its way. Car care said the paperwork is generated by vin. not reg. no. No Idea why this hiccup occurred, no doubt there will be a lot of buck passing and I hope the application gets completed in time for end of original JLR warranty expiration.
My point is, any other owner approaching end of Manufacturers warranty should receive notification about 6 to 8 weeks prior if not, make a phone call. 2nd. point, does the customer have to do the manufacturers job for them or is the above situation unique?
Perhaps JLR would like to comment.
Regards, Lukey.

I had a similar problem in that the dealer had registered my car on the LR system about 10 days before it was registered with DVLA So when it got to 3 years old, I almost missed the opportunity to take out the extended warranty without needing the additional inspection. Unfortunately, the dates didn't tally between dealer, first registration and whatever other unfathomable systems exist so I contacted Pete at LRCS who sorted something to cover the missing 10 days and the extended LR warranty people are very efficient and you take the cover over the phone.
Drop Pete a quick note and he can give you a definitive answer for your vehicle.2010 MX-5 2.0 Sport Tech PRHT

dont let the J / LR after care warranty lapse...
I didn't receive a reminder that my XK was nearing the end & the result was it had to have a dealer check out...despite having had a full annual service at the anniversary date.
The dealer check cost me 200 pounds...I had no way of getting around this..they said they give some attitude but not the time I had left it (just 4 weeks) & in the four weeks from the anniversary date & service to the dealer check...I had travelled just 63 miles.BREXIT - done properly.

Extended warranty of general interest.
Just completed JLR extended warranty on line, £1050 inc. LR assistance. This also includes sat nav and original ICE. Reason it wasn't activated by JLR was apparently the change of reg. no.? No idea why this should be but it was, now sorted, everything nice and tranquil once again. Could have got it for £100.50 per month over 10 months or the equivalent of £87.50 per month over 12. Considering insurance on complex cookers, white goods and other electrical house hold appliances seems like a reasonable deal to me for peace of mind. Only my opinion though. Thanks for everyones help.
