Front Door window replacement LR4 2014 (Headlights Stolen!!)

Hi Guys,

I was unfortunate enough to have my car broken into and my headlights pinched the other night Sad

Apparently this is becoming common so beware...

Anyhow autoglass have been out and replaced the glass and despite the appearance looking the same (tint etc..), I have noticed they haven't used pilkington LR glass but some other oem make.. I don't want this... I want the car back as it was before the incident this car cost me £50k and I have lost my no claims and a £500 excess...

Hence i don't really want 1 odd window... Also makes it obvious the window has been replaced.

The replacement cost the insurance £250 and the oem glasss from LR is only £120 so I don't see why they couldn't have used it.. Anyway I have a complaint with them at the min...

But in the chance they wont change it is there a post on here anywhere showing the procedure to change it..

I have opted to sort the headlights myself and bill the insurance for the parts as I want the car sorted ASAP rather than in the garage for weeks. Luckily they didnt cut the wires... Guy at Donny landrover said they had done 6 of theres on the forecourt in one night!!!

Thanks

Scott

When you say side window, do you mean the door glass or fixed light at rear

Big Cry seems like a bit a security fail when looking at this that the bonnet release works with the vehicle locked Banging Head

Park as close to the garage as you can ...................and connect it up to 240v Thumbs Up
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Which part is the "bad design" Confused ... having a side window, having a bonnet release or the light fittings?

Personally I blame the thieves Thumbs Up

To be honest, the method of securing the lights is pretty flimsy. I think a couple of self tappers inserted in the bracket to prevent them been lifted, with the screwhead filled with Araldite might make them harder to remove.

Lets face it, how often do we need to remove the lights for other legit purposes?

I sort of agree ...but my point is there's only a window between a thief and my £3k tv ...I'm not going to blame Samsung though eh Laughing

Until you need to change a bulb!

This case, the problem was they broke into the car...you could steal anything if you are inside...
