Removal of Sump

I am thinking of removing the sump on the disco 3 to clean and flush the engine oil and get rid of all the goooo usually at the bottom of the sump. \i am aware of flushing fluids available but would like to clean the filter in the sump if it has one.
Has anyone had a go at removing the sump and how much would a new sump gasket cost to replace. Any images or guidence on this would be a great help.
Cheers

One of the easier jobs on a D3 Thumbs Up

Any that I have replaced, there has been no sludge/goo in the bottom of them. If you still want to remove it though, drain it of oil, unplug the temp. sender and undo the ring of bolts holding it on Thumbs Up

You might want to give it a coat of paint too, I'm sure I read on here about sumps perforating due to rust. Or was it a Fiat forum Confused Anyhow, a coat of paint (outside only) would not go amiss. 8)

Sump Gasket

Sound like an easy job and will be giving the underside a good inspection while on the job.

Can the big ends be replaced in situ.. it appears the TDv6 is a ticking time bomb especially here in South Africa.

Thinking preventative maintenance @ 160k km or 100 miles but replacing shells.

Good news sump removal is easy just need to be able to replace out shell bearings as a service item Idea
