Off Roading Insurance

I was just looking at some of the brilliant pictures from yesterday and had a query. Does our standard car insurance cover us for activities such as Tixover or do we need to get some additional insurance.
I came along without checking and whilst was surprised and delighted that there wasn't a mark on the car had a wobbly moment thinking about what if! If this has been covered elsewhere point in the right directions guys.
Thanks Smile

Land Rover Motor Insurance states that it specifically includes 'Off Road' cover. To what degree, I am unsure, howerver, I am sure that others may be able to shed more light.

Most don't, Greenlanes are I believe roads so it should, but whether it will is another thing. Most definately not at Tixover!

Most Insurance is for the Queens Highway only. Tixover needs NFU insurance, but not if in competions. Even then declare what you are doing to them first. Insurance can be stickier than the mud TFC got stuck in yesterday.

Also going to check that my NFU policy covers off road and by how much etc. Their policies are VERY competitively priced too and include GAP insurance for 1st two years...

Sureterm were cheaper than NFU for me - and includes greenlanes, 'new - for - old' (Gap Insurance) plus a few other bits & bobs

I insure both of mine Via Adrian Flux as a Discovery Owners Club member I get a 10% discount from them and on my off-road one I also have full off road cover.

Sureterm is good, but is restricted to green lane off-road. I think this is a bit of a grey area, as any motor insurance should cover you on green lanes, i.e unsurfaced public highway.

If its public highway, you have to be covered. That includes all byways, UCR's and RUPPS (green lanes). I am not aware of any motor insurance that specifically excludes unsurfaced public highways, so Sureterm and others that claim off-road use, and then specifically exclude any off road use on private land are playing on words.

I have not looked at NFU yet, but will when I renew next month. My old Land Rover is insured with Sureterm on a classic policy, which is ridiculouly cheap.

I think fully comp insurance for a day like yesterday would be costly.
