Rob,do you have "issues" or is this purely timely and preventative maintenance ?"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Joy of joys.
I especially like the optimistic JLR icon of an oil filler jug being used - yeah right!
As for the megaflush option on the ZF8, from my exploration so far, I just cannot see a way of hooking-up a dialysis machine. I've not given-up completely but it does not look easy.

I had been thinking about getting my 6 speed flushed anyway, but now even more so following all of this recent talk about gearbox flushing and mine is just about to reach 75000 so it is already overdue.Andy

Gearbox is as smooth as they come. My intent is to do a single flush, go another 20-30k then single flush again. This way when I hit 60k+ I will have had a slow double-flush, with oil never left for more than 30k without being refreshed, plus not wasting oil. Hopefully ZF8 fluid will become a bit cheaper by the 2nd flush too.
If I could be assured of a ZF8 megaflush I would probably leave it to 50 to 60k, but as said previously there is no easy way to get the dialysis machine plumbed into the ZF8. It probably would require disconnecting the oil lines at the gearbox itself.
Change early, change often.

unfortunately not due to the thermostatic valve on the side of the 8 speed box that Robbie found out about , doesn't open till approx 73c i think thats right, maybe robbie will be along soon and explain a bit better

So Robbie, are you saying just drain and refill every 30k or so? It trust you are doing a how to?
Is there a filter to change?

Personally, after 45k, I'd be doing a drain and refill every service, if it were my own gearbox...My D3 Build Thread

As described by Geoff, the problem child in the D4 ZF8 arrangement is the thermostatic valve that prevents anything but hot oil from circulating through the oil cooler:

DESCRIPTION
The transmission fluid cooler is a separate cooling unit located behind the engine cooling radiator. The unit is attached, via a bracket, to the cooling pack protection subframe. The transmission is connected to the fluid cooler via flexible hoses and metal pipes.
The transmission fluid cooler is a dedicated cooler which is connected into the engine cooling system circuit. The transmission fluid is cooled by the temperature differential between the transmission fluid and the engine coolant flowing through the cooler.
Fluid is supplied from the transmission fluid pump, through the thermostatic valve (if open) into the cooler. After passing through the cooler, the fluid passes out of the cooler and is returned to the transmission fluid pan.
The thermostatic valve is located in the transmission cooler fluid supply and return lines. The valve contains a bi-metallic spring and valve which is closed when the transmission fluid temperature is below 69 oC (156.2 oF). At a temperature of 69 oC (156.2 oF) and above, the valve begins to open allowing the fluid to flow around the cooler. The valve is fully open at 79 oC (174.2 oF) .
We've yet to find away of bypassing the valve to allow for the full dialysis method of flushing the gearbox with lovely fresh oil.
Mike's suggestion of a simple drain and fill every service after 45k is not a bad one at all.

There is a filter but I will probably leave it alone. I could do I how to but compared to Geoff & Mike I am an amateur with the oily stuff. I'm hoping to do this soon, with Geoff's guidance no doubt.
