Suspension fault...

Well - it has been a few months, it's been well due a fault for a while!

The D3 has been sitting in the Airport car park all week and has turned against us for leaving her that long. On a 40 minute drive home from work, the D3 turned itself into one of these gutless rally cars with no suspension altogether - the ride was so rough that my Uncle (who was driving it at the time) couldn't face the journey any longer and got his secretary to come and pick him up Shocked

It's a bit like being one of these nodding dogs - you watch in amazment as the bonnet bounces up and down with voilence over every small loose stone or rough patch. Going over a speed bump..... it's like you're attached to the front of a recently launched nuclear missile.

A few seconds into any journey - "SUSPENSION FAULT" displays on the read-out. It's booked into the garage on Sunday. I noticed that the front of the car is weighing down on the suspension much more than the back. You certainly don't feel the bumps so roughly as you do in the front.

Also, they are going away on holiday the following week and are stuck if they don't have the D3 (won't fit everything into the 2nd car etc.). And on top of that, they are querying now buying the car off the company car scheme as so many things have gone wrong in the past. Is there something they can get the dealer to do to try and diagnose where the problems are coming from, and how to stop more problems occuring? Confused

and

yours is an 05, so may be in the VIN range for either fault.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Thanks ND.

Don't know if it makes a difference but ours is actually a 2004 model (November) and so one of the earliest... seemingly prone to faults Rolling Eyes

Will see what LR say at the weekend. Got an E320 Merc to cover when it's in the garage (not from Land Rover though!) Thumbs Up

True I suppose - we changed to a different dealer (a bit further away but they seemed better) after some original issues and they sorted 'er out promptly.

Didn't stop this one from happening though Rolling Eyes

It's still sinking slowly down to dragster-style when left for a about a week or more. Surely this isn't right? Confused

You have an air leak probably... do a search as its was a fault waaaay back in the dark days of pre forum time slippage.

Perhaps the search will show up the suggestion I had for spotting a suspension leak, Mr. Sheep . I do accept it wasn't an especially helpful one, but I was pretty pleased with the idea!
