Just been through this with my rear number plate - someone had gone foam sticker crazy underneath. I had a lot of white foam as well as the sticky residue.
I tried a variety of solvents none of which worked very well (I didn't resort to petrol nor did I have any "goo remover" type stuff).
What worked in the end was leaving them covered in mayo overnight (this loosened the white foam bits and just left the sticky residue). I then sprayed what remained with WD40 and covered with a cloth for about 10-15mins. To my surprise the remains scraped off quite easily using a plastic scraper.2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate
