Cambelts and oil pump
Hi thinking of doing my Cambelts in the next week or 2 can anyone recommend the best kits to buy and also should I replace the oil pump at the same time or with it being an 05 plate will it be ok? Rather be safe than sorry but no point changing of they don't give trouble on the early ones?
It's done 140000 now Cambelts should of been done at 107000 according to its history but I always like do them myself so I no they are done

Replaced mine last year and used a kit from site sponsor Advanced Factors, you'll also need a timing kit that includes the flywheel locking tool if you intend to replace the oil pump. Some of the aftermarket timing kits require some fettling to allow the locking tool to fit the bellhousing.

Got my parts from island 4x4, drill bits are just fine to lock the cam pulleys.

At 140k miles, your pump will likely be worn... If your oil.pressure light stays lit for more than around 3 seconds, consider replacing it
I done my own pump at around 60k miles, and the pressure light goes out in around 2 seconds, even in the middle of winterMy D3 Build Thread

Thanks for the advise Disco mikey I will see how long it takes go off in the morning.
Also I was asking if there is a make of belt kit people recommend I usually use continental kits but is it best to go genuine for the belt kit? I'm not bothered about price as I've seen some cheap kits out there but wouldn't use them

I used advanced factors timing kit today and it was perfect I found the belt holding tool useful, not something I've used before so thought I'd give it a try and as Allan pointed out some kits need filing down to fit,but AFs kit was a perfect fit inc the F/W locking tool Wanted D4s non runners pm for competitive price.
