Sidestep question mounting lugs

My new to me car came with std sidesteps fitted, nearside one was damaged so I removed and skipped them, next day in the daylight I noticed each sill had three round lugs sticking out the bottom, the fitted sidesteps were not mounted to these lugs.
Car is a 2006 Metropolis maybe something to do with that particular model?
Pic shows one of the lugs/bosses quite chunky affairs

I will leave them as is for now as not sure to get the mentioned tubes or leave naked.
