Genuine Main Turbo Hose Failure Poll

Since we don't seem to have had one, I thought I'd set up a poll to see how long genuine OEM turbo hoses have lasted.

Please only vote based on the large hose from the inter-cooler to the intake.

If you have had issues with other hoses there is an option for you too. Thumbs Up

If anyone thinks the options need altering feel free to say.

EDIT: Please do not vote unless you have actually had a hose failure. Thumbs Up

Figures are intended to be in Miles.

I think you need an option for, "I changed mine as preventative maintenance before it failed on me". Which is what I did at about 100k miles. Thumbs Up

That did occur to me, having changed mine too, but without having too many more options it wouldn't give any more info.

Maybe

Lasted at least 75K

Lasted at least 100K

Lasted at least 150K

would do?

Edit: I see I can't edit it now. Sad Perhaps the mods can?

Changed mine at 75k purely as a preventative measure.

Not clicked on the poll as in its current guise you need to have a failure to establish a mileage, but I did 90k and 8 years before trade-in with all the original bits in place.

2 D3's, both did in excess of 100k without any hose issues.

I suspect the use of the vehicle may have a bearing on mtbf. Lots of power cycles (power on - power off) as may be experienced in town use, or off road use, as opposed to long distance constant power cruising could make a difference?

Yes, I can't edit it now but as you say, unless you have a failure it doesn't mean anything unless it's already done a particularly high mileage.

I'll clarify the first post for those of us that changed our hoses before failure. Thumbs Up

Mine gave up 2 weeks ago with 66,450 on the clock. Lucky though as two days later I would have had the tintent on the back going upto Scotland. Had to replace it with an OEM one as I couldn't get a silicone one in time. See how long this one lasts. Thumbs Up

I've noticed a few puffs of smoke recently, and spotted a split in the hose while changing the oil today. Looks like my next free day has been planned for me.

Are we talking miles or kilometres? (When does the UK join the metric system?)

Anyway I can't vote in the poll as my engine was replaced at 142 000 km and the new one has only done 30 000 km on an OEM hose.

The old girl is on her third engine...
* first ran a bearing (design failure in original engine)
* second had a failure of the water outlet on top of the engine (pls check yours)
