Parking at the hydro Glasgow

Any one parked at the hydro, I believe my truck is too tall for the multi-storey, so I need some directions or ideas please,
Cheers Wink

Is it for the evening? The on street parking is permit restricted in the area around the hydro. There is space in the forecourt of ATS tyres on Finneston Road but these will get filled quickly! there is also space at McDonalds/Skypark but I suspect that they use cameras or something there and at the PC World across the road - someone may know if these are OK. I've never tried them.

There is parking at the Science Centre on the other side of the river near the BBC which is not height restricted and you can walk across the river directly to the SECC. This is where I usually park as it is easy to get away from afterwards. used to be £3 but when I was there on Monday they have raised the price to £5 'just because'.

Alternative is to park on the street near Partick Station and get the train to Exhibition station which is less than 5 mins but may be queues for the train afterwards.

Finally if you eat at the Rotunda first, you can use their barrier controlled parking. Don't think there is a height problem.

The West Car park is not height restricted but I'm not sure if it has been re-opened after the Commonwealth Games.

Look forward to hearing other suggestions.

Forgot to ask if you are staying somewhere in town, because if you are get the train or a taxi from the city centre. Its not far.

Quite a journey to the Hydro - must be something good!

Scotland 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Tonga GreenDiscovery 3

Hi I was able to get my disco into the hydro multi at the beginning of the year, lowered my to access and began the slow climb to the top for spaces. The only problem is getting out, I spent an hour and half in the show and then spent two hours ten minutes getting out the car park.
Hope that helps

Here is the solution - the West Car park, SECC. From their web site.....

"The MSCP has a height restriction of 1.9m. Drivers with vehicles over 1.9m should report to the SECC Gatehouse (at the West of the SECC campus) in the first instance and you will be directed to an available space."

Glad it all worked out well for you. The queue out of the science centre is nothing compared to the SEC car park!!

Spending longer getting out of a venue than you spent at the performance is a bit like the 10p packet of bolts from ebay with the £8.65 carriage charge, and then having to go collect them from the Post Office as the packet is too big for the letterbox. Must be the direction the world is heading now - hope it wobbles back soon.
