Should I replace engine in a 200k 2008 car?

2008 2.7D approaching 200k kms (125k miles)
Tensioner bolt to the oil pump broke/sheared off. This in turn stopped the front timing belt/cam belt powering the oil pump which supplies oil to the engine. As a result total engine failure.

Car is good shape otherwise. The only major thing to go wrong has been the hand brake.

A$15k for a new engine plus labour.

Questions:
1. Do you blokes reckon it is worth replacing the engine on a Disco this vintage?
2. While I'm rebuilding her should I replace auto transmission and suspension compressor as these seem to be the next thing to go? (All up probably A$20k.)

Cheers,
Al

What's her value in Aus? Sounds like sensible thing would be to flog her for parts. Sad

Car is worth A$20-25k.

In my experience dealing with JLR over Disco 2 and Defender issues they couldn't give a rats.

Once it's out of warranty they wipe their hands.

A fella on the AULRO forum from Melbourne sourced a Ford Territory engine for $3500 delivered from a wrecker!
Complete with turbo and all ancillaries incl AC compressor and alternator.
Only had 18,000 k on it too.

PS Join AULRO to read this topic ( Almost as good as this site too!)

That would be the way I'd be doing it!
He spent $7360 all up.

Definitely better than my $21 400 but that included a new engine + new turbo + new AMK compressor (EAS - I was sick of the old one's problems. The AMK is great, so far...)

The old girl is on her third engine...
* first ran a bearing (design failure in original engine)
* second had a failure of the water outlet on top of the engine (pls check yours)
