Advice - Crank Shaft failure
Hello,
Im looking for some advice. My engine has seized and its looking like crank shaft failure. I need to decide what to do with the car. I have forked out over 2k on other repairs and parts over the last 12months and really don't know what to do with her. Overall she is in good condition, its an se spec with leather interior sat nav etc. I have been offered 2k as she stands now for someone to take her away.
What I want to know is a realistic price for engine swap or what I could achieve on ebay as she stands or what I may see if I break her.
Any advice welcome, if am honest I would like to put her back on the road as it has been a joy to own even if it has been costly.
Cheers

Had this dilemma myself last year. I just got rid in the end, listed the fault and put it to auction. I now wish that i'd kept it and stumped up for a new engine. I'd only had it about 6 months and lost 5k on it, could have put another engine in it for 3k at the time and at least got some of the value back.
2k as it is seems a bit of an insult to me, i got offered 5k by a breaker for mine but got 6k at auction.

Sorry to hear about your problem. Its not by any chance just been serviced has it? One of the reasons for crank failure is the oil filter getting crushed by incorrect fitting. This starves the crank of oil and bang!
Just asking in case you have a come back on a dealer who has fitted it badly and caused the blow up.

TDv6 just seized!
Seems there is a pattern of tdv6 engines seizing due to crankshaft problems. Mine died yesterday afternoon, and just striped it in my garage, as thought it was timing belt, (which had been renewed 9 months ago).
Any advice from people who have had the same? Any joy going to landrover?
