Donny, do you have the phone buttons fitted? Have you tried searching for a Bluetooth signal from your phone when you first start your car?

No buttons fitted (on steering wheel). No mention of Bluetooth in any of the menus. Do I have a shot at this in the states?

Many of the sponsors sell complete kits for retro fitting OEM BT to your car.
Have a look in the sponsors section of the forum.
Here's an example

Yes, this should be possible. The 'factory' kit is very easy to fit, so the only hiccup is getting it enabled. You would need to find someone with suitable equipment, unless you are already minded to buy your own diagnostic tool.

I've no idea where the cheapest place is to buy an IIDTool in the States, but pretty sure the basic model would be under $500.

No factory fit Bluetooth on 2005 .. And you have just confirmed it by stating you have no phone buttons

Easy enough to fit though Thumbs Up

Only just got it and still getting to grips with it.
Phew it's a relief though as would hate to have my phone connect to the system if my mrs was with me. Lol Rolling Eyes

I think this is the route for me, after a ton of reading; Im in australia, with a 2005 HSE V8, its doesnt have the phone buttons on the steering wheel, but it does have the phone icon top right of the centre radio panel, so im sure this D4 conversion will suit. am too new to PM as yet, can geoff PM me? legends, the lot of you!
