Repair - More Expense - Warranty Direct to the rescue |
|
I have had a slight vibration and steering wobble between 25 and 35 mph which I was worried it may be the auto box, but it was the same in any gear, uphill / downhill or in neutral.
The weekend I really felt the steering was not right so in it went to LR dealers in Ludlow today for inspection.
Result is more than I expected.
Inner track rods
Wheel bearings
Water Pump
Auxillary tensioner broken
Quote £1240.00. Thankfully Warranty Direct will pick up 100% labour and 50% parts except they will not pay for the replacing of the tensioner? The D3 is a 2006 and just over 100,000 miles, hence the 50% on parts.
Anyone with an idea what the tensioner + labour will cost?
Belts were done at 7 years (my first job) but they did not replace the tensioner. Wish I had the knowledge this forum offers when I bought the D3, I would have had it done at the same time. Also had most of the front and rear suspension replaced a year ago (need to check invoice)
Would the knowledgeable on hear suggest the oil pump at the same time? or will that be down to LR if it goes as they are replacing the tensioner? Cant find the Bodsy forum results on that.
More expenditure, but still worth it as a proud owner of the best vehicle you can have. 2 x D3's (Twins)

Tensioner was around £85 last Year, bought mine from Steve @ Advanced Factors
Took Geoff about 25 mins to fit as IIRC the cooling fan has to come off.
Change the Aux belt while you are there Mark

If you are getting them to do the oil pump ,they will say you will need a new cam belt as well as its got to come off to do the pump ,as well as a new crank bolt
Be 5/6 hours easy to do this job
