Probably. I am not an expert yet on the LR, but my old VW Passat driver-side heated seat failed so that one side of the seat became very hot, regardless of the heat setting.
It never got hot enough to burn the seat, but it was hot enough to be uncomfortable.
The fix (I never did it) was to disassemble the seat and replace the heater element.
Good luck.
I couldn't be without my heated seats in the winter.ikonw8

well i need to change the lower foam at some point ,so i just as well do the eliminate at the same time at a cost of £110 plus vat for parts .
Its an easy enough job. I didn't replace the metal hooks though, I used strong cable ties to loop through the wire within the seat foam and the base. Been fine since I did it at Christmas and about 15k miles.Mark.

It is.
There is a thermostat attached which died on mine too. Strange enough, when the car would warm up you could use the heated seat, probably as the thermostat picked up the ambient temperature which was then higher than after a cold start.
I got to the point where it started to smell, either the seat or my butt, not sure.
Anyhow, had the dealer replace the heating element at, IIRC, € 80 material cost, and now it is fine.

Well guys to tell you i was shocked to see what was lurking under the seat cover ,it seems like we had a small fire in the foam as the heating element had broken down. And to make matters worst the tin tray had loads of splits and had to be welded and strengthened before refitting. But wile it was apart i thought i lube all the seat pivot points as well ,but if anyone has a hot spot in the seat don't waste no time in the repair ……..
