HDC system fault - whats causing it?
Hi guys,
just had a drive out today to the midland game fair. on my way home i got and error message on the dash telling me i had a HDC system fault and that all programs had been disabled. folloed by 3 warning lights. I pull up, turned the car of and turned it straight back on and the fault went away but after 10 minutes it was back again.
im not experiancing any other problems other than this fault which causes suspension height problems. it resets after turning the car off and back on again but it always comes back. my car is starting first time so i dont think its the battery but it does do alot of school runs mainly.
what do u guys reckon it could be as i dont have a clue
thanx in advance guys

Check your bake light bulbs, but can be many things.
Ours ended up being a wiring breakdown, took a dealer 3 attempts to fix

Have you checked your brake lights?
Sometimes the second filament on the brake/stop bulb goes & causes a short.

Can also be ABS / speed sensor or wiring as in our case.

Had the same as Transformer, had a HUB receiver pack up which stops HDC and ABS and special programmes, but a BIG tell tale for this fault is NO speedo working either

I had the same exact symptoms but with an extra!! the steering wheel was slightly swinging to the right while driving straight (about 1 O' clock), after lots of research on the web, took it for a front end alignment, the problem was solved, I didn't even have to recalibrate the steering angle sensor.

I had the same symptoms a couple of months ago, fault codes indicated a faulty rear N/S ABS speed sensor, after some digging around, I found it was the sensor wire that had chafed against a chassis outrigger inside the front left wheel arch, initially shorting to ground intermittently and then eventually it wore through giving a permanent fault.
In my case the speedo was unaffected.
As DM says, you need to see what fault codes are present.Clive
