Black smoke and Engine Fault...
Yesterday when we were joining the motorway it suddenly lost power, put up a message on the dash "Engine fault" or similar, no other warning lights or messages. I Pulled on to the hard shoulder, restarted the car and it was ok for a while, it did it a further 3 times on our 300mile journey.
The last few times I've take the wife's disco out I've noticed that it's putting out black smoke when accelerating, and it's still doing this, so something is clearly causing over fueling. I came home read the codes from the car, cleared them, then set off driving trying to trigger the "engine fault" again so I could confirm the code.
Despite a range of driving styles and road (inc motorway) I couldn't get it to go into fault mode. But can still produce lots of smoke under acceleration.
I'm going to have a look at the car this afternoon, but was wondering if anyone had thoughts as to what it could be? From a read around on the site itself I think it could be one of the following, but would appreciate tips on which one to start with, i.e. most likely
a) Sticking turbo actuator
b) Split intercooler hose
c) Split intercooler
d) MAF sensor
e) MAP Sensor
?????
The codes I got where:
P140a Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor C Circuit Low
P0046 Turbo / Super Charger Boost Control Solenoid Circuit Range / Performance
P140d Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit B Range/Performance
P140e EGR Position Sensor C Minimum/Maximum Stop Performance
The EGRs are already blanked, so I'm assuming P0046 is the one that's likely have caused the fault mode. Though why it won't do it now even though it's putting out lots of smoke is beyond me.56 D3 HSE / 05 Porsche Boxster S

One oily mess of split hose! Now any ideas where I can get a replacement hose on a Sunday afternoon, in Berkshire? Or will this be a job for first thing tomorrow.

Oh, Sh*tpart
Personally, I would avoid them.
The ones I have on my car are made by Dayco. Little bit more expensive at £100 or so, but I know they are good for a constant 2.5 bar My D3 Build Thread

Options seem to be:
- Original LR Version
- Britpart silicon
- BAS Sillicon
- Samco Silicon (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Samco-XDB-Intercooler-Inlet-Hose-Discovery-3-Range-Rover-Sport-2-7-TD-V6-/301105963660?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item461b50628c)
Haven't seen a Dayco one on my searches. Samco one is £120, which given the car isn't remapped seems like overkill.[/list]56 D3 HSE / 05 Porsche Boxster S

Having more of a read around, I've gone for the AlliSport kit. 5 Ply like the BAS one (which is out of stock). Figured I'd replace the hose on other side of the intercooler too. Probably not do the very short one, as that looks to be a PITA.56 D3 HSE / 05 Porsche Boxster S
