[For Sale] FS - vintage oak kitchen table and chairs
I know it's not a Landy part or anything, but it is kind of country-style which may be of interest to some Discovery owners. Maybe. Anyway...
We are in the fortunate position of having a new kitchen installed, starting next week - a partof that new kitchen is a breakfast bar, which means that, sadly, this table and chairs is now up for sale for the fabulously low price of £75 collected.
It's a fabulous dining table with 4 matching chairs. Not in perfect condition, but as they are around 100 years old, I'm sure that won't surprise anybody.
That said, they are in exceptionally good condition, the table has always been covered since we bought it, so there is no fading of the wood and the varnish is strong and uncracked and will protect this fantastic piece of furniture for years to come.
The chairs have some scuffing to the cross-bars where diners have rested their feet over the years, but nothing significant. There are some chips, but again, nothing to detract from the overall appearance of the set. The upholstery is clean and unworn.
The table is 30" (75cm) high and the length is adjustable using two sliding pieces, one at each end (so no annoying drop-down leaves if you want to sit somebody at each side). The length in the shortest state is 42" (106cm) and each leaf is 12" long (30cm) giving lengths of either:
Short - 42" (76cm)
Medium - 54" (137cm)
Long - 66" (167cm)
We have comfortably sat 8 people at this table, although it's generally just the three of us, and a very happy place it is to sit, too
Oh, and it's 33" (83cm) wide. That's not adjustable!
In summary, a simple, stylish and classic piece of kitchen or dining furniture which will lend sophistication and elegance to your home, reasonably priced and massively flexible. What's not to like??
Don't take my word for it, come on over to Newport Pagnell and take a look for yourself - sit around the table, imagine the history of this piece, the people who have sat around it, the conversations that were had, and the decisions which were made. Then imagine how it would sit with your life, and how that life could be massively improved for such a reasonable amount of cash

Thanks for the replies. I am a big fan of older stuff myself, which is why I have this table (amongst s house full of other old stuff!)
Sadly the new kitchen layout won't allow us to keep it so it has to go...
As for pictures - darn it! Trying to post in a hurry usually means missing something obvious, but that's a major "miss". I have pictures on my laptop but cannot get to it tonight so the quickest way to get you access to them is by posting the link to the ad on gumtree. I hope this doesn't breach any rules, if it does please let me know and I will remove the link and embed the pictures tomorrow, but for now, they are at:
Thanks again

Thanks Glynne. Didn't get home until very late last night and went straight to bed, just logging on to upload photos this am and it's already taken care of
If anybody is interested but thinks the price is too high, would a reduction to £50 help?
These really need to go this weekend.

Thanks for trying, much appreciated (and worthy of a beer next time you're over this way!)
It does appear that I may have sold it now anyway - I have two people interested. Just waiting to see who puts their hands into their pockets first
