Hi all
I'm speccing up a new commercial D4 and wondering how good the adaptive xenons are compared to standard xenons? Also what's the point of the surround camera system and is it any good?
Thanks

the surround camera system is a bit of a waste of money the rear camera is the only on the seems to be really useful the xenon light are worth the extra money think the adaptive one are even more again though

I got the vision pack on my D4 happy with it. Fortunately the dealer failed to add the cost of the ICE upgrade required so I didn't have to pay the extra. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I paid extra for surround camera's on my previous D4, a complete waste of money in my opinion apart from the occasional novelty value. Rear camera is really all you need On a mission to find the perfect Pork Pie. Just Found it (I think)..(Yes I have)

I have both. The adaptive xenons with High beam assist, are excellent, although HBA takes some getting used to!
Cameras, well I use them to help with hitching and towing the caravan, the kerb view is good to get close to the kerb without dinging your alloy! the front cameras are useless as juction views, because they both look straight ahead
I believe 2015 may be different in that they point more sideways to help you see out of a tight junction, although not seen it myself yet.

mine seem sideways although they could be better a little more.
I use the kerb view all the time it does help you miss the kerb. Mike

Adaptive Xenons as has been said, are great. Surround cameras handy for slow, tight manoeuvres (OO-ER Missus! ) Junction cameras on the MY15 are a much better angle but the quality is c**p! Time LR had meaningful negotiations with Go-Pro methinks! .... Or Blackvue My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

The best thing IMO is to get standard Xenons and change the bulbs both on low and high beam
Much much brighter with the upgraded bulbs and I use the 85w high beam bulb which is fantastic

Hmm. Mixed opinions then. As suspected the cameras are pretty useless. I have never been a fan of reverse cameras but they are useful for hitching a trailer I suppose.
It looks like the Xenons with LEDs are a £590 option on the commercial but in the brochure it says they are only available with electronic air suspension (027BY) and Bright Pack (017AF). Surely the air suspension is standard, and the Bright Pack is longer listed as an option on the brochure!
Think I'll save myself £1000 and just get the normal Xenons.
Thanks for the comments.

I can't understand why, with all the camera technology, Landrover haven't added a small DVR for recording journeys. I have a Blackview in case I need to "prove" my innocence in a scrape (and to catch interesting stuff for YouTube ). I have a DVR on my motorcycle recording two cameras. It's no larger than a cigarette packet and has a built in screen. Total price around £150. I'd certainly pay this for a recorder in the car. Much cheaper than Blackview! D4 HSE MY2015

Adaptive lights are one of those things that do their job quietly and unobtrusively in the background for the most part.....so much so that you probably don't realise what a help they are.
Where I do find them obtrusive is in thick fog.....where they are very distracting. On rural roads,it's like having a couple of hyperactive torches sellotaped to the front of the car......I had no idea they reacted as quickly as they do,even at slow speed, until I drove in fog.
Likewise the cornering lights......turning into a poorly lit driveway,or manoeuvring in a tight lane etc they are very helpful....driving along a country road with walls close to the sides of the road, they can be a pain, reacting to the slightest steering input and taking your attention from the road ahead
Overall though, for me,the advantages outweigh the disadvantages "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Rear camera is really all you need I agree..., in particular the front ones seem completely pointless, not least because they as so wide angle if you use them at a junction by the time you could see an approaching car on them it's already on top of you.
Rear cam is handy though and a big fan of adaptive xenons.
