Alternator / party on the dash |
|
Hi all newbie here although owned landys for the past 6 years, here is my story ☹
Freezing cold morning the landy decided to just turn over and over and not start so grabbed a new battery and she fired straight up but lit the dash up like a xmas tree!!
Had it plugged in and came up with :
Communication errors
Brake switch
So changed the brake switch and bulbs took it back to the garage with no luck, so tested the alternator and was getting 13.5v from the battery when running so decided to get a new one and replace bit unfortunately still getting 13.5v when running. I have checked the fuses etc but im now thinking it could be an earth problem as all other threads i have looked at are saying 13.5 v is too low for the computers to function without fault, Any help or advice will be appreciated.

Did you fot a Denso Alternator?
Check the engine earth wiring, you can put a jump lead from the battery negative to a good earth point on the engine and see if it makes a difference

Thanks for your reply Unfortunately I fitted a aftermarket one due to lack of funds but now after reading a few posts on here it will probably cost me in the long run, I will give the jump cable a try in the morning and see how that goes.

Its most likely the new alternator if you search the threads you will see people have fitted a number before they get one that works.
