Has anyone been on the ferry from Newcastle to Bergen, I am interested in going over there with the Discovery for a break with the family. Any information would be good. It;'s going to cost about £480 for the ferry, but not sure about where to stay etc. Arctic Frost Discovery 3 TDV6 SE, Active Rear Diff, Adaptive Head Lights, Tow Pack, Ebony Leather, Roof Rails, Mantec Guard. Tasmod Stainless Sill plates. Grabber AT's. Home made mud flaps. Side Steps back on until the next time.

We went on the ferry about 6 years ago to Stavanger.
We shopped around for the tickets and ended up with a weeks free accomodation on a log cabin site near Oslo -superb as the first part of a three week trip.
We then drove over to Bergen through the ski areas/hills and had a few days there before getting the ferry back from Bergen. DFDS were also doing deals on the hotels in Bergen and further north at the time.
Good luck.
Cheers

I have been to Norway via Newcastle/Bergen and the fjord region is well worth a visit. Have a look at http://www.visitnorway.com/ . Depending who you book your accomodation through you may be able to get discount on the ferry. Be aware that the fjord region can be wet and Norway is expensive. But is highly recommended.

I just hope you get good weather. We did that crossing a few years ago and when they started putting out sick containers we thought we might be in for a rough ride - but I have never experienced anything like it! ''
Good idea to take something in advance! ''
Once you are there it is fantastic scenery but as zig says take plenty of kroner. Paul
